The drive from Alice Springs to Uluru takes around four and a half hours through some of the most hauntingly beautiful landscape on the planet. The best time for outback safaris is between April and October, when daytime temperatures are pleasant and the nights are cool. Summer months (November to March) can see temperatures exceeding 40°C, though some operators run tours year-round with adjusted schedules to avoid the worst heat.
