Field of Light was magical
Uluru by day, then thousands of lights glowing in the desert at night. Add the cultural stories from our guide and it was unforgettable.

Kata Tjuta blew me away
Everyone talks about Uluru but the Valley of the Winds walk at Kata Tjuta was my favourite. Camping under the outback stars was incredible.

Once in a lifetime
Sunrise over Uluru, walking the base, learning the Dreamtime stories — deeply moving. The swag camping added to the whole outback experience.

Uluru at sunrise is spiritual
Watching the rock change colour as the sun came up gave me goosebumps. Kata Tjuta was just as stunning. Our guide shared amazing Anangu culture.

Magic scenery, hot days
The desert heat is real so bring water, but Uluru and Kata Tjuta are unmissable. Sunset with a glass of bubbles was a highlight. Great guide.

Long drives, worth it
A fair bit of driving in the Red Centre but the scenery and the guide's stories kept it interesting. Kings Canyon rim walk was a highlight.

About Outback Ballooning 30 Minute Hot Air Balloon Flight
Operated by Outback Ballooning · 4 Hours · Alice Springs, NT
Set your alarm early and head out into the cool pre-dawn quiet of Central Australia, where the desert is still and the sky begins to pale over the MacDonnell Ranges. Once your balloon lifts off, everything changes. The outback opens up beneath you in soft morning light, with wide red plains, ancient ranges and the chance to spot native wildlife below, including red kangaroos moving across the land.
As you float for around 30 minutes over the historic Owen Springs Cattle Station and the surrounding desert, you’ll get a real sense of just how vast and remote this part of the country is. Some days you’ll be airborne as the sun rises, other days you’ll watch it from the ground before take-off, but either way the dawn is unforgettable. After landing, there’s time to help the crew pack down the balloon or simply take in the quiet while you enjoy light refreshments, sparkling wine, fruit juice and a flight certificate to mark the morning. If you’re after a truly special way to see Alice Springs, this is it — book your seat and see the Red Centre from a whole new angle.
Know before you go: - This experience departs very early, with pickup around one hour before first light; your exact time will be confirmed the day before your flight. - Child fares apply for ages 6-14. Children aged 3-5 are not generally recommended, but may be considered individually. - Flight conditions vary each day, so you may be on the ground or already airborne when the sun rises — either way, you’ll still enjoy a stunning outback dawn. - Wear closed-in shoes and bring a warm layer for the pre-sunrise chill, plus a camera for the views. - The tour does not operate on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. - If you need airport transfers or a connection to another tour after the flight, request this when booking.
