About This Experience
Jump on the Share Bus and travel along the coast to Exmouth, inland to Karijini, and then back to Perth for an amazing north west adventure. How it works We're not a tour. We're a shared rental! You share the rental of our minibus, trailer and camping equipment with other backpackers. The start and end date is set, but the rest is flexible to modify as you like. This way of travelling is cheaper than a tour and more flexible, but you get a group of travel mates and everything you need for a camping road trip.

Unspoilt paradise
The West coast feels wild and untouched. Snorkelling the reef and exploring the gorges were highlights. A proper adventure off the beaten track.

WA coast is magic
Turquoise water, white beaches and hardly a soul around. From Exmouth to the gorges, every stop was stunning. Fantastic guide and group.

Ningaloo blew me away
Snorkelling straight off the beach with turtles and reef fish, then whale sharks out wide. WA's coast is criminally underrated. Incredible trip.

Remote and beautiful
Long drives through the outback but the reward is empty beaches and world-class snorkelling. Ningaloo is every bit as good as they say.

Swam with a whale shark!
Bucket-list ticked — swimming alongside a whale shark at Ningaloo was surreal. The crew were professional and the whole day was seamless.

About West Coast Loop
Operated by Share Bus · 17 Days · Perth, WA
Set off from Perth and trace Australia’s wild west over 17 days, with the ocean on one side and red dirt country on the other. You’ll share a minibus, camping gear and the driving with a crew of like-minded travellers as you work your way up the coast, into the Pilbara and back again, stopping for swims, snorkelling, hikes and those long, quiet stretches of road that make WA feel endless.
The big drawcard is Ningaloo Reef, where you can slip straight in from the beach and snorkel over coral gardens without needing a boat. Further north, you’ll have time for white-sand beaches, dolphin spotting and laid-back coastal stops before heading inland to Karijini National Park, where towering gorges and cool waterfall pools bring a whole new kind of drama. It’s a proper no-frills road trip, with plenty of fresh air, early starts and satisfying days on foot. If you’re keen for red dirt, reef water and a real taste of outback Australia, this is the one to jump on.
Know before you go: - This is a self-drive shared rental, not a guided tour, so you’ll follow the provided itinerary and trip guide rather than travelling with a dedicated guide. - Choose your seat type carefully: driver seats are for travellers aged 21+ with a valid regular driver’s licence, and non-drivers must not drive at any time. - Pack light and keep luggage to around 20 kg total — one large bag plus a day pack or small backpack is best. - Bring your own water bottle, sunscreen and torch, and be ready for plenty of free camping along the way. - You’ll be sharing tents, with space for up to three people per tent, so this trip suits travellers happy with a social, no-frills setup. - A full guidebook will be provided a few days before departure with route notes, activity ideas and campsite suggestions.
