Surf Experience

Get a feel for surfing in the friendly, waist-deep water of Ocean Grove, where long, rolling waves give first-timers plenty of room to learn. Over two relaxed hours, you’ll cover the basics of surf theory, ocean awareness and board control before heading out to practise paddling into waves with support from your instructor.

This lesson is designed to get you standing as early as possible, with simple techniques tailored for beginners and full-time supervision from lifeguard-qualified surf instructors. Whether you’re seven or seventy, you’ll be in a safe, fun environment that makes learning feel easy. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to pop up, balance and ride your first clean wave, this is a cracking place to start.

Know before you go: - This lesson is suitable for ages 7 and above. - Expect to surf in waist-deep water under direct instructor supervision. - Ocean Grove’s long, gentle waves make it a great spot for beginners. - Bring swimwear, a towel and sun protection. - Arrive a little early so you can get changed and ready for your session. - If you’re unsure about conditions or ability, let your instructor know before the lesson starts.
