Surf Experience

If you’ve ever wanted to give surfing a proper crack, Surfers Paradise is a cracking place to start. You’ll be learning on one of Australia’s most iconic stretches of beach, with warm water, patrolled shores and conditions that are ideal for beginners. Most of the lesson happens in waist-deep water, so you can focus on standing up, finding your balance and feeling the board move beneath you.

Led by Go Ride A Wave, a surf school that’s been teaching Aussies and visitors since 1987, this 2-hour session is set up to get you comfortable in the water fast. Your instructor will tailor the coaching to your level, whether you’re completely new or just need a confidence boost. With lessons running daily from the shop near the famous Surfers Paradise sign, it’s an easy, fun way to tick off one of the Gold Coast’s most classic experiences. Once you’ve caught your first wave, you’ll be keen for the next one.

Know before you go: - Lessons run daily at 10:00am and 1:00pm. - Please arrive a little early so you have time to check in and get changed before the lesson starts. - The meeting point is the shop across from the famous Surfers Paradise sign, at the beach end of Cavill Mall beside Hungry Jack’s. - This lesson is designed for beginners and is mostly conducted in waist-deep water. - Wetsuits or rash shirts are provided depending on the time of year. - If you’d like a private or group lesson, ask ahead as these may be available on request.
