Humpbacks stole the show
These gentle giants breached so close we got soaked and did not care one bit. The guides were fantastic with the kids too.

So close to the whales
A curious whale came right up to the boat and hung around for ages. The guides were passionate and knew heaps about the humpbacks. Unforgettable.

Amazing sightings
Saw multiple whales breaching and tail-slapping. Bit of swell out there but the skipper positioned us perfectly for photos. Loved it.

Whales put on a show!
We had humpbacks breaching right beside the boat — mums and calves waving their fins. The crew clearly knew where to find them. Magical morning.

Great morning on the water
Plenty of whale activity and a knowledgeable crew. Would have liked a touch longer out there but a wonderful experience overall.

Bucket-list whale watching
Humpbacks everywhere, a calf breaching over and over. The commentary really added to it. Warm, friendly crew and a very comfortable boat.

About Whale Watching Safari Style
Operated by Cooly Eco Adventures · 2 Hours, 30 Minutes · Gold Coast, NSW
Between May and November, the Gold Coast becomes one of the best places in Australia to meet the humpback migration. More than 40,000 whales travel up the east coast each year, and this stretch of water sits right alongside the continental shelf, putting you in prime position to watch them move through their natural environment.
From the moment you head out, you’ll be treated to sweeping coastal views, fresh sea air and expert live commentary from a skipper and crew who genuinely know their stuff. The safari-style vessel brings you closer to the action, with eye-level viewing that makes every breach, tail slap and curious pass feel wonderfully real.
No two cruises are ever the same, which is part of the magic. You’ll spend 2.5 hours on the water with a crew who are passionate about whales and proud to share the beauty of the Gold Coast with you. If you’re keen to see these ocean giants up close in a setting that feels personal and unhurried, this is the one to book.
Know before you go: - Whale watching season runs from May to November, when humpback whales migrate along Australia’s east coast. - Your exact meeting point and check-in time will be confirmed on your booking voucher, so please read it carefully and arrive early. - Bring a light jacket or windbreaker, as it can feel cooler out on the water even on a sunny day. - Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are a smart idea for daytime cruises. - A camera or phone with a secure strap is handy for photos when the whales come close. - If you’re prone to motion sickness, consider taking precautions before boarding.
