So close to the whales
A curious whale came right up to the boat and hung around for ages. The guides were passionate and knew heaps about the humpbacks. Unforgettable.

Great morning on the water
Plenty of whale activity and a knowledgeable crew. Would have liked a touch longer out there but a wonderful experience overall.

Whales put on a show!
We had humpbacks breaching right beside the boat — mums and calves waving their fins. The crew clearly knew where to find them. Magical morning.

Humpbacks stole the show
These gentle giants breached so close we got soaked and did not care one bit. The guides were fantastic with the kids too.

Better than I imagined
We saw more whales than I ever expected — breaching, spy-hopping, the lot. The crew were brilliant and even guaranteed a sighting. Do it!

Amazing sightings
Saw multiple whales breaching and tail-slapping. Bit of swell out there but the skipper positioned us perfectly for photos. Loved it.

About Whale watching Byron Bay
Operated by Blue Seafaris · 3 Hours · Brunswick Heads, NSW
From May to November, Byron Bay’s coastline becomes a front-row seat to one of nature’s great migrations. Step aboard Wardjam, our fast and stable rigid inflatable boat, and head out from Brunswick Heads in a small group of just 12 guests, with plenty of room to take in the salt spray, sea breeze and sweeping ocean views.
Your onboard marine biologist will bring the experience to life, sharing stories about humpback behaviour, migration, and the incredible lives of these ocean giants. Along the way, you’ll often spot more than whales — keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles and migratory seabirds moving through the same rich waters. With an experienced skipper at the helm and a boat designed for getting you close, this is an intimate, comfortable way to experience Byron’s whales at their best. If the whales don’t show, you can come again free of charge, so all you need to do is turn up and enjoy the ride.
Know before you go: - Tours depart from Brunswick Heads Boat Harbour, about 15 minutes north of Byron Bay. - Please arrive a little early so you have time to check in and get settled before departure. - Bring sun protection, a camera and a light jacket — it can feel cooler out on the water. - If you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s a good idea to take precautions before boarding. - Whale sightings are seasonal between May and November, and if no whales are sighted you can join the next tour free of charge. - There’s no large-group crowding here — the boat carries just 12 guests, so spots are limited.
