Better than I imagined
We saw more whales than I ever expected — breaching, spy-hopping, the lot. The crew were brilliant and even guaranteed a sighting. Do it!

Great morning on the water
Plenty of whale activity and a knowledgeable crew. Would have liked a touch longer out there but a wonderful experience overall.

Amazing sightings
Saw multiple whales breaching and tail-slapping. Bit of swell out there but the skipper positioned us perfectly for photos. Loved it.

Bucket-list whale watching
Humpbacks everywhere, a calf breaching over and over. The commentary really added to it. Warm, friendly crew and a very comfortable boat.

So close to the whales
A curious whale came right up to the boat and hung around for ages. The guides were passionate and knew heaps about the humpbacks. Unforgettable.

Whales put on a show!
We had humpbacks breaching right beside the boat — mums and calves waving their fins. The crew clearly knew where to find them. Magical morning.

About Whale & Sail - Whale Watching Cruise
Operated by Sydney Tall Ships · 5 Hours · Sydney, NSW
Step aboard a traditional tall ship at Campbell's Cove Jetty in The Rocks and spend the day chasing the rhythm of the harbour, the open ocean, and the passing whales. This is whale watching with a difference: you’re not just cruising, you’re sailing on a beautifully kept vessel designed to be kind to the sea and the whales that call it home. As the skyline slips behind you, you’ll feel the salt air on your face, hear the creak of timber and rope, and watch the water open up beyond Sydney Harbour.
Over around five hours, you’ll head out where the swell starts to build and the real whale-spotting begins. There’s time to get hands-on with the sailing if you’re keen, and a free mast climb for sweeping views back over Sydney’s coastline. It’s a relaxed, memorable way to experience the migration season, with plenty of room to take a breather, soak it all in, and enjoy the moment. If you’re after a whale watching experience with a bit more soul, this is a cracker.
Know before you go: - Check in at Campbell's Cove Jetty, The Rocks at least 15 minutes before departure. - This experience is available to guests aged 15 and over; passengers under 18 must travel with an adult. - Around half the trip is outside the harbour, so expect ocean swell and possible motion sickness. - Wear warm layers, wet weather gear, and sturdy shoes suitable for climbing the mast. - If you need vegetarian or gluten-free catering, let the operator know at the time of booking or at least 48 hours ahead. - Smoking is only permitted in the captain's designated deck area and is not allowed below decks.
