Humpbacks stole the show
These gentle giants breached so close we got soaked and did not care one bit. The guides were fantastic with the kids too.

Great morning on the water
Plenty of whale activity and a knowledgeable crew. Would have liked a touch longer out there but a wonderful experience overall.

Whales put on a show!
We had humpbacks breaching right beside the boat — mums and calves waving their fins. The crew clearly knew where to find them. Magical morning.

Amazing sightings
Saw multiple whales breaching and tail-slapping. Bit of swell out there but the skipper positioned us perfectly for photos. Loved it.

Bucket-list whale watching
Humpbacks everywhere, a calf breaching over and over. The commentary really added to it. Warm, friendly crew and a very comfortable boat.

So close to the whales
A curious whale came right up to the boat and hung around for ages. The guides were passionate and knew heaps about the humpbacks. Unforgettable.

About Sydney: Whale Watching & Harbour Explorer (2-Day Combo)
Operated by Captain Cook Cruises · 7 Hours · Sydney, NSW
See Sydney from two brilliant angles on this two-day combo: out on the open water with humpback and southern right whales, then back inside the harbour to explore the city’s most famous foreshore stops at your own pace. It’s an easy way to pack a lot into a short visit, with big coastal views, fresh sea air and plenty of iconic Sydney scenery along the way.
Your whale watching cruise heads beyond the harbour entrance aboard a comfortable catamaran, with indoor and outdoor viewing decks and expert commentary to help you make sense of what you’re seeing. With a whale sighting success rate of over 95%, there’s a very good chance you’ll be watching these giants breach, tail-slap or cruise just offshore while the spray hangs in the air. If the whales don’t show, the whale guarantee gives you another crack later in the season.
Then it’s your turn to hop between harbour highlights like Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo, Watsons Bay, Shark Island, Manly and Darling Harbour. Slow the pace down, wander the waterfront and take in Sydney the way locals love it best. If you want a trip that mixes wild coastline with the city’s most beautiful harbour views, this is a ripper choice.
Know before you go: - Whale watching cruises depart daily from 17 May to 2 November 2025 at 9:30am from Circular Quay Wharf 6, returning around 12:00pm. - Please call the reconfirmation hotline on +61 2 8062 3623 from 7:15am on the day of your cruise for the latest departure information. - As this is an open-water cruise, the full names of all passengers and an emergency contact number are legally required. - Cruises may be cancelled or amended due to weather or other operational requirements, so check the morning of travel before heading out. - If the operator cancels your cruise, you may rebook in the same season, request a refund through your original point of purchase, or receive a credit with Captain Cook Cruises within 12 months. - Captain Cook Cruises may change vessels or itineraries without notice.
