Amazing sightings
Saw multiple whales breaching and tail-slapping. Bit of swell out there but the skipper positioned us perfectly for photos. Loved it.

Great morning on the water
Plenty of whale activity and a knowledgeable crew. Would have liked a touch longer out there but a wonderful experience overall.

So close to the whales
A curious whale came right up to the boat and hung around for ages. The guides were passionate and knew heaps about the humpbacks. Unforgettable.

Bucket-list whale watching
Humpbacks everywhere, a calf breaching over and over. The commentary really added to it. Warm, friendly crew and a very comfortable boat.

Whales put on a show!
We had humpbacks breaching right beside the boat — mums and calves waving their fins. The crew clearly knew where to find them. Magical morning.

Better than I imagined
We saw more whales than I ever expected — breaching, spy-hopping, the lot. The crew were brilliant and even guaranteed a sighting. Do it!

About Private Intimate Whale Watching (Weekend / Public Holiday)
Operated by Whale Tales Whale Watching · 2 Hours, 30 Minutes · Sydney, NSW
Set out from Sydney Harbour aboard a sleek high-speed catamaran and head straight for the deep blue in search of the city’s migrating whales. On the way, you’ll cruise past some of Sydney’s most famous sights — the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the glittering shoreline — before the skyline gives way to open ocean and the real magic begins.
With a smaller, more intimate vessel, you’ll have excellent viewing from the deck and the chance to watch these huge, curious animals at close range as they move through Sydney’s coastal waters. Your guide will keep the experience lively with expert commentary, helping you understand what you’re seeing without ever feeling rushed or crowded.
It’s a brilliant way to experience whale season from the water: fast, scenic and up close, with plenty of fresh sea air and some of the best views in the city. If you’re after a memorable Sydney outing that feels personal from start to finish, this is a top pick.
Know before you go: - Please arrive at your selected wharf a little early so boarding is smooth and departure stays on schedule. - This tour runs at a brisk pace on open water, so a light jacket is a smart call even on a sunny day. - Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat for time on deck. - Bring your camera or binoculars if you have them — they’re handy for spotting whales at a distance and catching good photos. - Whale sightings are influenced by seasonal conditions and wildlife behaviour, so exact encounters can’t be guaranteed. - Check your booking confirmation carefully for your assigned pickup wharf and departure details before you travel.
