Spend a week chasing waves, salty air and a proper east-coast surf vibe on this one-way adventure from Sydney to Byron Bay. You’ll start with five days at 7-Mile Beach, Gerroa, where mellow beach breaks and expert coaching make it easy to build confidence in the water, whether you’re brand new to surfing or already standing up and looking to improve. By the end of the camp, you’ll know your paddling, pop-ups, turns and surf etiquette, with plenty of time to get comfy on a board and read the ocean a little better.
After your surf camp days, the trip rolls north to Byron Bay for a final stretch of board hire, beach time and laid-back coastal energy. Stay close to the sand, swap stories with your surf mates, and head out to enjoy Byron’s cafés, bars and buzzing evenings when the sun drops. With all the gear, coaching, meals and transport sorted, you can focus on the fun part: getting in the water and backing yourself on your own waves. If you’ve been wanting a surf trip that feels easy, social and genuinely rewarding, this is a very good place to start.
Know before you go: - This trip departs Sydney on Monday morning, so plan to arrive early and be ready to roll by 9:00am. - Your surf camp accommodation is shared dorm-style, usually in 6–7 berth rooms, with private or double upgrades available on request. - Vegetarian and vegan meals are available at camp; let the team know in advance about any other dietary requirements. - Byron Bay board hire is included, but lessons are not, so you’ll be surfing independently there using the skills you’ve picked up. - The journey to Byron Bay is overnight on Friday night, and the trip finishes in Byron Bay on Sunday afternoon. - Bring the usual beach essentials: swimmers, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, comfy clothes and a little cash for extras.
