Tag-along was so much fun

Getting to drive the 4WD ourselves made it. Lake McKenzie, the Maheno shipwreck and Indian Head views were all incredible. Amazing trip.

Fraser Island magic

World Heritage for a reason. The lakes, the beach highway, the dingoes — every stop was better than the last. Our guide made it unforgettable.

Lake McKenzie is paradise

The pure white sand and turquoise water at Lake McKenzie do not look real. The 4WD tag-along through the rainforest was so much fun too.

Adventure of a lifetime

Full-on days flying along the sand and exploring the interior. Champagne Pools were a highlight. Bring a sense of adventure and you will love it.

Loved the whole thing

A packed itinerary and a top guide. Eli Creek and the rainforest walk were gorgeous. Long days but you see so much of the island.

Bumpy but brilliant

The sand tracks are rough but that is half the adventure. Champagne Pools and Eli Creek were highlights. Great guide and fun group.

About K'gari 2 Day Tour — Noosa to Noosa

Operated by Discovery K'gari Adventures · 2 Days · Noosa, QLD

This is the best way to see K'gari from Noosa — a 2-day small-group tour with a maximum of 13 passengers, proper camping on the island, and a guide who actually lives locally.

You depart from Noosa and cross to K'gari by ferry (about 45 minutes from Rainbow Beach). From there it's straight onto the sand tracks in an all-terrain coach. Day one covers the island's greatest hits: 75 Mile Beach highway, the SS Maheno shipwreck (a rusting ocean liner beached since 1935), Eli Creek (a crystal-clear freshwater creek that flows into the ocean — you float down it), and Lake McKenzie. McKenzie is the one that stops people in their tracks — pure white silica sand, water so clear it looks fake, no crowds if you time it right.

Overnight you camp in permanent bell tents right on the island. Dinner is a proper Aussie BBQ under the stars, cooked by your guides. It's comfortable camping — real beds, hot showers — not survival mode.

Day two continues the exploration before heading back to Noosa. With only 13 passengers, the group dynamic is genuinely social — most people are backpackers, couples or solo travellers in their 20s and 30s.

This tour departing from Noosa means you don't need to get yourself to Hervey Bay (which is 3 hours north). If you're staying anywhere on the Sunshine Coast, this is the most convenient K'gari option available. All meals, camping, park fees and return transfers from Noosa included.
