Australia Study Abroad Adventure: Maria’s 30-Day East Coast Itinerary
After studying at Lexis English School in Manly Beach, Maria set out on a once-in-a-lifetime journey along Australia’s East Coast. With a custom itinerary curated by Victoria from Dundee Adventure Travel, Maria’s 30 days blended solo exploration and a collaborative campervan road trip with fellow Lexis graduates.
Starting the Journey: Surf Camp & Byron Bay
To kick off her adventure, Maria spent three days at Spot X Surf Camp. Not only did she enjoy daily surf lessons and beachfront accommodation, but she also made new friends. “The surf camp was so nice. I met a lot of good people. The weather wasn’t perfect, but I still loved it.”

Afterwards, Maria headed to Byron Bay. While staying at WakeUp! Hostel, she took advantage of free yoga sessions and social events. Because of its welcoming atmosphere, Byron Bay quickly became one of her favorite stops. “The hostel in Byron Bay was my favorite one. I would definitely recommend it!”

Wildlife Encounters: Gold Coast & Brisbane
Next, Maria traveled to the Gold Coast. Because she loves wildlife, she explored the Koala Trail, spotting kangaroos and koalas along the way. “Not many people knew about the trail but it was absolutely worth going to.”

Meanwhile, in Brisbane, Maria enjoyed the city’s nightlife and the comfort of YHA Brisbane. Because of the hostel’s privacy curtains and amenities, she was able to rest well. “The hostel was one of the best—so clean, and it was nice to have a bed with curtains.”

Nature & Adventure: Noosa, Everglades, and K’gari (Fraser Island)
Maria’s journey continued to Noosa, where she relaxed on the beach and joined an Everglades kayak tour. In addition, her stay at Nomads Noosa made it easy to meet new people before her K’gari (Fraser Island) tour. “The hostel was so good, I would definitely go again.”

On K’gari, Maria spent three days exploring lakes, camping under the stars, and bonding with her tour group. Because of the group’s camaraderie, this became her trip highlight. “Fraser was my absolute highlight. I was lucky with my group.” Afterwards, she returned to Rainbow Beach—greeted by a real rainbow!

Whitsundays & Campervan Road Trip
After a long overnight bus, Maria arrived at Airlie Beach. There, she joined the Thundercat Tour for a day of sailing, turquoise waters, and white sand beaches. “Airlie Beach was soooo cool! The tour was super and I didn’t get seasick!”

For the final segment, Maria and two Lexis friends planned a campervan road trip from Airlie Beach to Cape Tribulation. Because they booked with Victoria at Dundee Adventure’s Manly campus, they received an upgraded campervan. As a result, they enjoyed exploring rainforests, secluded beaches, and scenic coastal routes together. “The van tour was amazing! We were really lucky with our upgrade, and we had a great time together.”
