This day tour is designed for travellers who want to see the West Macs’ headline locations in one full day—without self-driving. It suits all ages (6–90) who are comfortable with a moderate fitness level and short walks on uneven ground.
Total driving distance is approximately 310 km. Swimming stops and the order of locations may vary due to seasonal conditions, park closures, restricted access, or Traditional Owner ceremonies. Your guide will adjust the schedule to deliver the best experience on the day.
Do I need an NT Parks Day Pass?
Yes. An NT Parks Day Pass is required for entry into Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park for day trips. It is not included in the tour price. Standley Chasm entry is included.
How fit do I need to be?
A minimum moderate fitness level is required. Expect guided walks totalling around 3–4 km on uneven terrain. This tour is not suitable for mobility-impaired travellers (including wheelchairs, walkers, prams or strollers).
Is this tour suitable for children?
Children aged 6–17 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times. Not suitable for infants or children aged 5 and under.
Can I swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole?
Swimming is usually possible, however access can be restricted due to seasonal conditions, weather, or safety considerations. Your guide will advise on the day.
What should I bring?
Bring a 2L refillable water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimwear and towel, comfortable closed-toe hiking shoes, insect repellent, and a camera. Pack only a small day bag (5–7kg) as there is limited storage on the vehicle.
