The two-day guided tour with an expert local guide, taking you to all the famous attractions, including Lake McKenzie, hidden gems like Lake Wabby, and the ocean's natural jacuzzi - the Champagne Pools - located on the northeastern side of the island.
Optional extras while at Kingfisher Bay Resort include bush tucker talk & taste sessions, pampering at the island day spa, sunset sessions, west coast eco cruises, and whale watching (August-October). - Lake McKenzie - K'gari's most iconic swimming spot - relax along the pristine white silica shore and immerse yourself in the crystal-clear fresh water.
- Central Station - admire the towering trees growing from sand and explore the rainforest boardwalk.
- Pile Valley - wander through the subtropical rainforest and marvel at the centuries-old Satinay trees and towering palms.
- 75 Mile Beach - cruise K'gari's beach highway and join Air Fraser for a scenic joy flight over the island (optional extra).
- Eli Creek - wade through the shallow waters or float downstream towards the Coral Sea!
- Maheno Shipwreck - visit the famous rustic ruins that were once a luxury cruise liner. Washed ashore in 1935 it is now a photographer's paradise!
- The Pinnacles Coloured Sands – be amazed by these spectacularly technicoloured sand cliffs and the Dreamtime tale of how they were formed.
- Indian Head – as the most easterly point of the island, marine life such as turtles and rays are often spotted in the waters around the base of this rocky headland.
- Champagne Pools – experience this amazing natural jacuzzi, as crashing waves meet the volcanic rock pools along the shore.
- Lake Wabby - trek across Hammerstone Sandblow with your expert guide and be rewarded with a dip in this emerald-green freshwater oasis.
ITINERARY
PRE-NIGHT
- On the day of arrival, travel from River Heads on the barge crossing of your choice. (Ferry time must be selected at time of booking).
- Check into accommodation (after 2.00pm).
- Resort Facilities Available: K’gari Discovery Centre, Three restaurants, Four bars, Four lagoon pools, Island Day Spa, Tennis courts, Gift shop and general store.
- Recommended Optional Activities: Sunset drinks - Sunset Bar, Ranger-guided walks + talks*, Bush Tucker Talk and Taste* *Pre-booking recommended
DAY 2
- 7.00am Breakfast at Sand & Wood restaurant.
- 9.00am Prepare overnight belongings – additional luggage can remain in your Kingfisher Bay Resort Hotel Room, until your return.
- 9.30am Arrive at the Sunset Bar for a prompt departure.
- 9.45am Depart Kingfisher Bay Resort and begin K’gari two-day tour. Lunch at K’gari Beach Resort.
- 5.30pm Arrival and check in at K’gari Beach Resort.
- 6.30pm Dinner at leisure at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant. Pool table and drinks available at McKenzie’s Bar until late.
DAY 3 / POST NIGHT
- 7.00am Breakfast at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant.
- 8.00am Tour departure from outside reception. Picnic lunch on tour along with morning/afternoon tea.
- Depart your final island tour location and return to your Kingfisher Bay Resort accommodation. Dinner at leisure.
DAY 4 & 5 / DEPARTURE
- Two days at leisure. Both days include breakfast (Sand & Wood restaurant open from 6.30am for breakfast) and full access to Kingfisher Bay Resort facilities. Return ferry transfer back to the mainland on the barge crossing of your choice* (Includes local courtesy dropoffs from River Heads to select locations).
- Please note On day five, guests must depart the resort by the final barge at 5.00pm. On departure, if you would like your bags collected by our porter service, please arrange this on day four of your stay
